The W.I. Dykes Library now has cameras and camcorders for checkout! You can use them for anything – from filming a birthday party to creating a presentation for class. All you need is your student or staff ID to check them out.

What's for Checkout?
The library has 3 Canon Powershot ELPH 520 HS, 1 Canon Powershot SX160 Digital Camera, 1 JVC GZ-E100 Camcorder, 1 Canon HF R400 HD Camcorder, and 3 Tripods with Universal Camera Mounts.
Who can checkout a camera?
Cameras may be checked out by current students, faculty, and staff of the University of Houston-Downtown. You must present your student or staff ID to check out cameras.
ELI Students, Alumni, and TexShare cardholders can not check out cameras.
Where do I go to checkout a camera?
You can checkout the cameras at the Library Circulation Desk, on North-5 in the One Main Building.
How long can cameras be checked out for?
The Canon Powershot ELPH, JVC GZ-E100 Camcorder, and Tripods can be checked out for three days. The Canon Powershot SX160 Digital Camera and Canon HF R400 HD Camcorder can be checked out for one day.
The kit must be returned before the close of the library on the due date. If the library is not open on the due date, the kit will be due the next day the library is open. DO NOT PLACE THE KIT IN THE BOOKDROP!
How many cameras can I check out at once?
You can only check out 1 camera kit and 1 tripod at a time.
What if I'm late returning a camera?
You will be charged a late fee of $1.00 a day for each day the camera is late. After 5 days you will be charged a replacement fee of $300.00 plus a $10.00 billing fee and $10.00 processing fee. You must return all piece of the kit at check in.
