A zine (short for "magazine" or "fanzine") is a small, self-published booklet created either to be circulated or for personal expression. Zines have a rich history spanning from the 1920s Harlem Renaissance, to the 1970s DIY Punk scene, and beyond!
Fanzines ("fan" + "magazine") are usually specific to a piece of media like a TV show or band. The first known fanzine, published in the 1960s, was created by Stark Trek fans.
Zines can be made by individuals, or as a collaborative effort.
