Due to a reduction in the Library’s collection materials budget for FY 21 of 5.38%, the Library must cancel some electronic journals and databases. The book and e-book budgets will also need to be reduced. Over the last few years, the Library has increasingly moved to Demand Driven Acquisition, where a large pool of e-books and streaming videos are available, but only the ones that are used are purchased. So the Library still expects to meet basic needs.
Where possible, the Library will provide information in advance about planned cancellations. The UHD community can be assured that decisions are based on years of input from faculty and students via library surveys and feedback from the Library Committee.
Your feedback is encouraged and appreciated. In challenging budget times, it is even more important that the Library and the University community all work together to ensure that funds continue to be expended effectively.
Criteria for Cancellation
Most print magazines have been canceled due to low use. The library will keep a small collection for leisure reading.
